WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H has publicly acknowledged the tournament victories of Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill at the Night of Champions premium live event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Both competitors won their respective King and Queen of the Ring finals, securing guaranteed world championship matches for SummerSlam.
In the opening contest of the event on Saturday, June 28, Cody Rhodes defeated his former mentor, Randy Orton, to become the 2025 King of the Ring. The match saw Rhodes adopt a more aggressive strategy, targeting Orton’s surgically repaired back, which elicited some boos from the live audience. The finish came when Rhodes reversed an attempt by Orton, sending him into an exposed turnbuckle before executing a final Cross-Rhodes for the pinfall.
Later in the evening, Jade Cargill secured her Queen of the Ring crown by defeating Asuka. The victory marks a significant point in Cargill’s career, earning her the first singles championship opportunity in WWE. Cargill overcame Asuka’s technical offense, countering an Asuka Lock before hitting her Jaded finisher for the win.
Following the event, Triple H took to social media to comment on the new King and Queen. Regarding Cargill’s achievement, he highlighted her powerful start in the company and her win over a formidable opponent.
“She’s been nothing but dominant since her arrival…and now a win over one of the best earns her a singles championship match for the first time. Congratulations @Jade_Cargill.”
He also commented on the significance of Rhodes’ victory and what it means for his future ambitions.
“The path back to the Undisputed @WWE Championship starts now for @CodyRhodes…#WWENOC”
Both Rhodes and Cargill are now set for championship matches at the two-night SummerSlam event scheduled for August 2 and 3 in New Jersey.
