In a significant development for the SmackDown women’s division, Giulia defeated Zelina Vega to become the new WWE Women’s United States Champion during the June 27 broadcast from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The victory marks her first championship on the main roster, continuing a rapid ascent since her debut.
The win prompted a public acknowledgment from WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, who commented on the new champion’s immediate impact.
“She’s taken #SmackDown by storm, and now has the gold to prove it… Congratulations @giulia0221g,” Triple H stated in a social media post, accompanied by a photo of him with Giulia and her new title.
The championship match was the culmination of a rivalry that began when Giulia joined the SmackDown roster on May 16 and immediately targeted Vega. After a competitive contest, the turning point occurred when Vega missed a moonsault, allowing Giulia to capitalize with consecutive “Arrivederci” knee strikes followed by a Northern Lights Bomb for the pinfall.
This title win ends Zelina Vega’s reign at 63 days.
For Giulia, this achievement comes just 42 days after her main roster debut on the April 21 episode of WWE RAW and in only her third match as a member of the SmackDown brand. Following the victory, the former NXT Women’s Champion projected confidence in a social media post.
“No surprises. No luck. Just inevitability. And now…,” she wrote.
