The path to the World Heavyweight Championship match at SummerSlam will be forged on tonight’s episode of WWE RAW. A high-stakes Gauntlet Match was announced to determine who will challenge the reigning champion, Gunther.
The field for the contender’s match is packed with top-tier talent, featuring CM Punk, Penta, Jey Uso, Bron Breakker, and LA Knight. The winner will earn a title opportunity at one of the biggest events of the year.
This year, SummerSlam will take place across two nights for the first time, emanating from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on August 2 and 3.
Following the major announcement, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H, reacted on social media.
“The road to #SummerSlam shapes up tonight…A big #WWERaw to cap off a great weekend in @WWE,” Triple H wrote.
The newly announced World Heavyweight Championship bout joins a rapidly expanding card for the two-night spectacle. Other confirmed matches include Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena, a three-way for the Women’s World Championship between Naomi, Rhea Ripley, and IYO SKY, Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill, and a tag team match pitting Randy Orton & Jelly Roll against Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul.
