The potential merger would involve the AEW International Championship currently held by Kenny Omega and the AEW Continental Championship held by Kazuchika Okada.
Kenny Omega defeated Konosuke Takeshita at AEW Revolution on March 9 to claim the International Championship.
Kazuchika Okada successfully defended the Continental Championship against Brody King at the same pay-per-view.
According to Fightful’s sources, the consolidation concept has been in development for some time. The report notes that this creative direction has been pitched “back a number of months” and is considered firm within the company.
