WWE will continue involving Travis Scott in programming despite criticism over his stiff strike on Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber. Sean Ross Sapp addressed the situation during a Fightful Select Q&A session when asked about potential backstage heat.
They’re not going to pull the plug on having him involved. He’s done a little training and is expected to do more. They have tentative plans for him to be involved here and there. They’ve been working on this stuff quite a while
The plans indicate Scott has received some in-ring training and will continue preparation for future WWE appearances. The company has been developing these plans for considerable time according to the report.
Seth Rollins expressed concerns about Scott’s wrestling abilities during an appearance on WFAN. The former World Heavyweight Champion specifically referenced the incident with Rhodes.
I have mercy on Travis Scott. That is not a man that needs to be in a wrestling ring with these giant humans. No offense to him, but he’s a cruiserweight, brother. He can wrestle Rey Mysterio, maybe. He doesn’t know what he’s doing in there. He just whacked him in the side of the head, gave him a big ol’ bruise, busted him open—just awful.
Rollins further noted the potential danger for Scott if Rhodes confronts him about the incident.
If Cody gets his hands on him, it’s done and dusted. Cody isn’t like Braun Strowman or Andre The Giant, he’s not a massive guy, but he dwarfs Travis Scott. If he can get through Travis’ team of people, it’s game over for him.
The rapper’s stiff shot left Rhodes with visible bruising according to Rollins’ comments. Despite this incident and the criticisms that followed, WWE appears committed to their original plans involving Scott.
WrestleMania 41 is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, though it remains unclear if Scott will participate in any capacity at the premium live event.
