El Grande Americano is scheduled to return to Lucha Libre AAA for a match against El Fiscal at the promotion’s television tapings on September 7 in Monterrey. The announcement confirms the masked character’s continued presence in the promotion following a high-profile championship bout earlier this month.
This marks Americano’s first match since competing for the AAA Mega Championship at TripleMania XXXIII on August 16. In that four-way contest, he challenged champion El Hijo del Vikingo alongside Dominik Mysterio and Dragon Lee. It was later reported that Ludwig Kaiser was the wrestler portraying the El Grande Americano character during that event.
The identity of El Grande Americano has been a central part of an ongoing storyline since WWE’s acquisition of AAA was announced during WrestleMania weekend in April. The character was originally portrayed by Chad Gable, who was sidelined with a rotator cuff injury. The narrative has since established that different wrestlers can assume the persona, adding an element of mystery to his appearances.
The September 7 tapings will also feature a title match, as Lola Vice and Lince Dorado are set to challenge La Hiedra and Mr. Iguana for the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championships. This event serves as one of the final stops before the two promotions present their joint Worlds Collide special on September 12.
