Veteran Claims WWE Is Setting Jade Cargill Up For Failure

Despite Jade Cargill’s rapid ascent toward a WWE Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam, veteran wrestler Bin Hamin believes the company’s creative strategy is flawed. Speaking on Vince Russo’s podcast, Hamin contended that the current presentation of Cargill, which includes channeling the X-Men character Storm, is actively setting her up for failure by putting her in situations that are too complex for her current experience level.

Hamin argued that the focus should be on building Cargill as a unique, dominant force rather than having her emulate a superhero persona.

“So now she [Cargill] gets to pretend that she’s that when she’s a thoroughbred human being, an easy person to make. She should be more over than Storm from X-Men who has to share the spotlight with the rest of them. The spotlight should be on Jade Cargill making a brand as a Serena Williams of wrestling.”

The critique comes as Cargill is involved in some of the women’s division’s most intense storylines. She is currently in a heated and personal rivalry with the Money in the Bank contract holder, Naomi. This feud is scheduled to escalate on July 13 at the WWE Evolution premium live event, where the two will face off in a No Holds Barred match.

For Hamin, placing Cargill in such a high-stakes program is a significant booking error. He advocated for a more protected build, similar to the one that established Goldberg as a major star.

“And the fact that she’s even in there, that spot’s way too deep end in the pool for her. And you’re only setting her up to fail because it should be a series of two-minute squashes…to get there, to protect her. A Goldberg-level run. So, that’s huge mistakes.”

Cargill’s path to the main event was solidified when she won the 2025 Queen of the Ring tournament, defeating Asuka in the finals. That victory earned her the right to challenge the current WWE Women’s Champion, Tiffany Stratton, at SummerSlam on August 2-3 at MetLife Stadium.
