The WWE Women’s Championship main event on SmackDown ended with Tiffany Stratton retaining her title, Jade Cargill suffering a serious injury, and Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer making a post-match appearance. The bout took place on September 26 at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida.
Stratton defended her championship in a triple threat contest against Cargill and Nia Jax. The match turned chaotic when Cargill was legitimately injured in a sequence at ringside. She tried to lift Jax onto her shoulders, but Jax countered and threw her onto the steel steps. That impact split Cargill’s eyebrow, and ringside medical staff rushed in to provide immediate care.
Despite the incident, the contest continued. Stratton delivered the Prettiest Moonsault Ever to Jax to score the decisive pin. Earlier, Cargill appeared on the verge of victory after hitting the Jaded on Stratton, but Jax pulled the referee from the ring before the three-count. The official also missed another fall attempt when Stratton had Jax down.
The action was physical from start to finish, highlighted by Stratton and Cargill working together to deliver a double superplex to Jax. The atmosphere was heightened with special ring introductions from Mark Nash, adding to the big-match presentation.
After the bell, Stratton’s celebration was cut short when Stephanie Vaquer walked to the ring. The Women’s World Champion confronted Stratton, and the two titleholders stood face-to-face, each raising their belts in a tense staredown as SmackDown went off the air.
