Vince McMahon’s Attorney Files Motion To Dismiss Reckless Driving Charge

Vince McMahon’s attorney is moving to have the reckless driving charge from his July 2025 car accident thrown out. According to a report from TMZ, lawyer Mark Sherman has filed a motion to have the case suspended and dismissed. Sherman stated that if granted, the request would “ensure a complete dismissal of the case but still allows Vince to convey contrition and concern for the other drivers, which is his top priority.”

McMahon currently faces one count of reckless driving and another for following too closely.

The charges stem from a three-vehicle crash on July 24, 2025, on the Merritt Parkway in Westport, Connecticut. McMahon appeared in a Stamford court for an arraignment on August 26, with his next disposition hearing set for October 16. In addition to the motion for dismissal, he has also applied for a pretrial probation program.

According to the police report, the incident occurred when McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT rear-ended a 2023 BMW 430. The impact sent both cars into a wooden guardrail, and debris from the collision was struck by a third vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. While photos showed significant damage to McMahon’s Bentley, no serious injuries were reported.

The driver of the BMW, 72-year-old Barbara Doran, later claimed McMahon was driving an estimated 80-90 mph and weaving through traffic just before the collision. In a social media post, Doran alleged that an unmarked state trooper was preparing to pull McMahon over when the crash happened. Despite the circumstances, she noted that McMahon approached her immediately after the accident to check on her well-being.
