After AEW Dynamite’s sixth-anniversary broadcast on October 1, company president Tony Khan spoke to the live crowd. The show was highlighted by the return of Andrade El Idolo, who attacked Kenny Omega and officially aligned with the Don Callis faction.
In his address, Khan emphasized the demanding year-round schedule of pro wrestling and credited the fans for keeping it alive. “I know there’s a lot of great sports, but there’s only one sport that goes 52 weeks a year with no off-season, no breaks year-round, and it’s pro wrestling,” he said.
Khan closed by thanking the audience directly for their continued support. “It’s only possible to do this 52 weeks a year because of all of you supporting us year-round. Thank you very much!”
Andrade’s return came moments after Kenny Omega and Brodido defeated The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander. As Omega was cutting a post-match promo, Andrade attacked him and made his alliance with Callis official.
This marks Andrade’s second run in AEW, following his WWE departure on September 13. Fightful Select confirmed he has signed a full-time contract with the promotion. Andrade becomes the first wrestler to sign with AEW, leave for WWE, and later rejoin AEW full-time, after his initial stint ended in December 2023.
