Will Ospreay Names Top WWE Star as His Favorite Wrestler
AEW star Will Ospreay reveals WWE’s AJ Styles as his favorite wrestler and expresses interest in facing Samoa Joe to enhance his skills.
Will Ospreay has identified a current WWE roster member as the wrestler he admires most in the industry. The AEW performer made this revelation during a recent media appearance while discussing potential future opponents.
During his interview on Busted Open Radio, Ospreay directly named AJ Styles as his favorite wrestler, particularly highlighting his work from the six-sided ring era.
My favorite wrestler in the world is AJ Styles. I was a huge TNA fan, I loved the six-sided ring.
The two-time AEW International Champion also expressed interest in squaring off against Samoa Joe, who has an extensive history with Styles. Ospreay believes this matchup would force him to evolve beyond his high-flying style.
There’s one guy in AEW who has a connection to AJ… I want to fight the guys AJ has fought – Samoa Joe. I’ve never been in the ring with him, and I feel like he’s the guy that’s going to force me to not just think about aerial moves, but to stand my ground and trade strikes with him.
Ospreay further clarified that Styles delivered his best performances against Joe, noting that Joe challenged Styles physically.
To become even close to the athlete AJ was, I need to face the guys who shaped him.
Joe and Styles previously faced off in memorable bouts across both TNA Wrestling and WWE. Styles joined WWE in January 2016 after leaving NJPW, while Joe departed WWE in January 2022 before returning to ROH and eventually joining AEW in April that same year.
