Will Ospreay has revealed that personnel from WWE have reached out to him to offer assistance regarding his recent neck injury. The AEW star confirmed that individuals from the rival promotion contacted him directly with offers of support.
“I’ve got people in (WWE) that I’ve never met before in my entire life, that have reached out because of this neck injury,” Ospreay stated. He noted they extended offers of medical guidance, saying, “Hey, if you need a doctor, or if there’s any questions that need to be answered.”
Ospreay characterized the interactions as entirely positive. “Every single one of them are super lovely. And I wish them all the best. I really do.”
This development follows Ospreay being written off AEW television at Forbidden Door on August 24. The storyline reason for his absence was a severe post-match assault orchestrated by Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli of the Death Riders.
After Ospreay’s team won the Lights Out Steel Cage main event, Moxley and Castagnoli locked him inside the structure and launched a targeted attack. The angle concluded after they wrapped a steel chair around Ospreay’s neck and stomped on it, leading to him being fitted with a neck brace and taken out on a stretcher.
This on-screen assault was designed to facilitate Ospreay’s planned time off to undergo surgery for a pre-existing condition. He had previously disclosed that he is dealing with two herniated discs in his back and expressed significant apprehension about the procedure, describing himself as “terrified” ahead of what would be his first major surgery. His recovery is expected to sideline him for up to a year.
