Will Ospreay Updates Neck Injury Amid AEW Absence

AEW’s Will Ospreay has undergone successful surgery to repair multiple herniated discs in his neck. The former IWGP World Champion shared the news earlier today on Instagram, assuring fans that his recovery is already underway.

“The road will be long, but it’ll be worth it to see you all again. Surgery was a success,” Ospreay wrote.

The procedure addressed injuries that had been troubling him for nearly a year. An MRI conducted after All In last month revealed herniations at the C2 and C6 vertebrae compressing his spinal cord, making surgery unavoidable.

Ospreay was officially written off television at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on August 24. Following the main event—a punishing Lights Out Steel Cage match—he was attacked by Death Riders members Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli. The angle provided the storyline explanation for his absence.

Although the surgery went well, Ospreay’s recovery is expected to be extensive. Reports also suggest he may need to adjust his high-risk, aerial style once he is cleared for an in-ring return.
