Will The Rock return for WWE RAW’s Netflix debut?
WWE hopes to feature The Rock on RAW’s historic Netflix debut in January 2025. Following his appearance at Bad Blood, speculation grows about his involvement in this landmark partnership.
Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful Select reported that “WWE maintains hope of having The Rock,” suggesting the company aims to make the premiere episode memorable.
Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that The Rock’s presence would be ideal for the moment, even without WrestleMania 41 confirmation. “We haven’t received any confirmation about Johnson on the show,” Meltzer explained. “But those we’ve spoken with in the company believe it makes sense… he draws the biggest audience for WWE and Netflix under any circumstances.”
Meltzer indicated that The Rock’s appearance could set up a storyline involving Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, or both. “If he’s participating at WrestleMania, he and Rhodes (and possibly Reigns) should escalate their confrontation on this show, as it will be in front of the year’s largest audience.”
The WWE-Netflix partnership, valued at $5 billion over ten years, continues to gain attention, with The Rock’s potential appearance raising expectations further.
Plans emerge for historic Netflix debut episode
Beyond The Rock’s potential return, WWE has confirmed several major names for the debut episode. Travis Scott will make an appearance on the January 6, 2025 broadcast, marking the first RAW episode on the streaming platform.
