Wrestling Veteran Says Andrade’s WWE Exit May Involve Charlotte Flair

Wrestling veteran Vince Russo has suggested a possible reason for Andrade El Idolo’s WWE departure, pointing to an “uncomfortable” professional environment after his divorce from Charlotte Flair. Russo also noted reports that Andrade was “ghosting” the company and unhappy with his creative direction.

“I am not the kind of guy that tries to find this stuff out because I don’t care,” Russo said. “But I am sure that you know, him and Charlotte [Flair] being divorced and working for the same company, that could be you know, uncomfortable. Then I hear he was ghosting them for a while or something like that… He probably wasn’t satisfied with the way he was being used.”

Andrade’s profile was moved to the alumni section of WWE’s website, confirming his release. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, management developed “buyer’s remorse” over his contract. His Royal Rumble return failed to generate sustained momentum compared to names like Cody Rhodes and CM Punk.

Creative concerns also factored into the decision. Management reportedly felt Andrade’s English had not progressed enough to elevate his character. This view was compounded by the rise of other Mexican stars such as Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix, who were seen as connecting more strongly with fans. Andrade was eventually paired with Fenix on SmackDown, a role insiders believed carried limited upside.

Disciplinary issues further complicated his standing. Sports Illustrated reported Andrade had at least one Wellness Policy violation during his second WWE run, in addition to a prior 30-day suspension in January 2020. Weeks before his exit, he was allegedly sent home from a television taping, forcing creative plans to be scrapped.
