AEW has confirmed Double or Nothing for Sunday, May 25, at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. This marks the first time the premium event will take place outside of Las Vegas, excluding the pandemic-era Jacksonville shows.
The scheduling creates a direct head-to-head competition with WWE’s programming that weekend. According to backstage reports, WWE plans to air Saturday Night’s Main Event on NBC on May 24, followed by NXT Battleground on May 25.
This scheduling conflict puts both major wrestling companies in direct competition for viewership on the same night. AEW typically schedules pay-per-views on Sundays when NFL season isn’t active, shifting to Saturdays during football season.
Information has emerged suggesting AEW had attempted to keep its event dates confidential following a previous scheduling clash. In December, WWE ran a house show in the same city on the night of AEW’s Worlds End pay-per-view.
The strategic timing from both companies indicates the ongoing competition for wrestling audience attention continues to intensify. With both organizations placing major shows on the same weekend, fans will need to choose which programming to prioritize.
Both events represent significant programming for their respective companies, with Double or Nothing traditionally serving as one of AEW’s premier annual shows since the company’s founding.
