WWE has confirmed a last-minute addition to the card for tonight’s episode of SmackDown, the final show before SummerSlam. Jimmy Uso is now scheduled to compete against Talla Tonga in a one-on-one match during the broadcast from Newark, New Jersey.
The match continues the long-running drama involving the Anoa’i family bloodline. It serves as another platform for the feuds involving Jimmy Uso, Jacob Fatu, and United States Champion Solo Sikoa, whose MFT faction has been a central part of SmackDown’s narrative.
The final show before SummerSlam will also feature a tense face-to-face confrontation between Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena and his challenger, Cody Rhodes. This segment is their last opportunity to gain momentum before their title match, following a recent contract signing where Rhodes put Cena through a table.
Two championship matches are also set for the evening. The newly crowned WWE Women’s U.S. Champion Giulia will defend her title in a rematch against the former champion, Zelina Vega. Additionally, AAA World Tag Team Champions Los Garza have issued an open challenge to any team from RAW, SmackDown, NXT, or AAA.
A significant non-title grudge match will see Damian Priest finally get his hands on Aleister Black. The rivalry intensified after Black repeatedly ambushed Priest, who had come to the defense of R-Truth. The broadcast will also feature an appearance by recording artist Jelly Roll.
