A high-profile celebrity tag team match is now set for WWE SummerSlam, as Randy Orton will team with Grammy-winning musician Jelly Roll to face the duo of Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul.
The partnership, dubbed RK-Roll, was solidified following the events of WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event. After Orton defeated McIntyre in a singles match, a post-match brawl erupted involving all four men. The altercation culminated with McIntyre delivering a Claymore to Jelly Roll, who was in Orton’s corner for the bout.
In a backstage segment following the attack, Orton apologized to the musician for getting him involved. However, Jelly Roll insisted he was a “grown man” who could stand up for himself and demanded a piece of both McIntyre and Paul. This led to Orton officially proposing the tag team match for the August premium live event.
Tensions first began on a recent episode of SmackDown. During a musical performance, Jelly Roll was confronted in the ring by Logan Paul. Randy Orton then emerged to defend the musician, leading to an attack on Orton by McIntyre that set up their singles match.
This match adds significant star power to what is shaping up to be a landmark event. For the first time, SummerSlam will take place over two nights on August 2 and 3 from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, with Cardi B announced as the official hostess.
