One of the major matches from the last edition of WWE SmackDown featured Kevin Owens facing Rey Mysterio in a Singles Match. The match was set up after both wrestlers confronted each other in the show’s opening segment.
When the match time came, after a very even contest, Owens managed to prevail in the end, winning after delivering a “Pop-Up Powerbomb” on Mysterio, followed by the pinfall.
After the match, Owens pretended to help Mysterio, only to attack him afterward, which prompted Cody Rhodes to come to the ring to confront him. Rhodes was ultimately restrained by several officials, allowing Owens to escape.
Later, backstage, the show’s General Manager, Nick Aldis, announced to Rhodes that he and Owens will have to surrender their titles at Saturday Night’s Main Event and sign the contract for the Royal Rumble Ladder Match.
As a reminder, WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event will take place on January 25th, with real-time coverage by Wrestling Noticias.
