WWE Announces Rey Fenix Debut Date

Rey Fenix will make his WWE SmackDown debut on April 4th after weeks of teaser vignettes confirming his signing from AEW.

WWE Announces Rey Fenix Debut Date

The mystery of the luchador vignettes has finally been solved, and the blue brand is about to get a massive injection of high-flying action. After weeks of speculation and cryptic video packages, WWE has officially confirmed that Rey Fenix is joining SmackDown, with his in-ring debut set for next week’s show. The anticipation has been building for this particular signing, especially given the wrestling world knows just how much Fenix can elevate any match he’s in.

During the March 28th SmackDown broadcast, WWE aired yet another teaser vignette, but this time they dropped all pretense and confirmed Fenix as the mystery luchador. The video announcement explicitly stated that viewers would see Fenix make his debut on the April 4th episode, ending weeks of speculation despite Fightful Select Espanol having already confirmed his signing back on March 21st.

Fenix’s arrival at WWE comes after a lengthy run with AEW that began in 2019, where he captured multiple championships including the AEW World Tag Team, ROH World Tag Team, and AEW International titles. He hasn’t competed since July 2024, following what appeared to be a contentious exit marked by since-deleted tweets about “inhumane treatment” and reports that AEW attempted to extend his contract by adding injury time before he ultimately left the company earlier this month.

With Fenix joining his brother Penta, who debuted on Raw in January after his own December departure from AEW, WWE is clearly making a substantial investment in luchador talent. The timing couldn’t be more perfect with WrestleMania season in full swing, giving WWE fresh star power to build around after their showcase event.
