WWE Announces Two Major Title Defenses for October PLE

WWE has locked in its first two massive matches for Crown Jewel, pitting the top champions of Raw and SmackDown against each other. Find out who is heading to Perth.

WWE Announces Two Major Title Defenses for October PLE

The dust has barely settled from Saturday’s WrestlePalooza PLE, but WWE is already building the card for its October 11 event, Crown Jewel, with two massive champion vs. champion clashes officially announced.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will go head-to-head with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins to determine the Men’s Crown Jewel Champion. This collision comes after Rhodes successfully retained his title against Drew McIntyre at WrestlePalooza, while Rollins is coming off a mixed tag team loss alongside Becky Lynch to CM Punk and AJ Lee. Rhodes will also be looking to repeat history, as he was the victor of the inaugural Men’s Crown Jewel Championship match last year against GUNTHER.

The stakes are just as high on the women’s side.

In the other blockbuster matchup, the brand-new WWE Women’s World Champion, Stephanie Vaquer, is slated to face WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton for the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship. Vaquer is riding major momentum, having just captured her title from IYO SKY at Saturday’s premium live event.

However, Stratton’s ticket to Perth isn’t punched just yet.

She must first defend her WWE Women’s Championship this Friday on SmackDown in a daunting Triple Threat Match against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax. Whoever walks out of that chaotic encounter as champion will be the one to challenge Vaquer in Australia.

WWE Crown Jewel is scheduled for the RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia. Fans in attendance can also expect to see John Cena, whose next appearance is set for the event following his loss to Brock Lesnar.
