The planned in-ring debut for music superstar Travis Scott at this year’s SummerSlam has been canceled, according to new details revealed by Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live. The rapper was slated for a major tag team match at the event, which is set to take place at MetLife Stadium on August 2 and 3.
The original concept for the match reportedly involved Scott teaming with another celebrity, Bad Bunny. Potential opponents discussed for the high-profile encounter included Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton. This development follows Scott’s notable appearances earlier in the year, where he was involved in John Cena’s heel turn at Elimination Chamber and interfered during the main event of WrestleMania 41.
“I’m not gonna sit here and tell you I know the whole story because I would be lying, but something happened with Travis Scott. Travis Scott was supposed to be in a match at SummerSlam.”
Alvarez continued, detailing the shift in plans that led to Scott’s removal from the show.
“I believe it was going to be a tag match involving Travis Scott and Bad Bunny. So it may have been like Travis Scott and Drew against Bad Bunny and Randy. It was gonna be something. And something happened with Travis Scott, and he is off the show.”
With Scott no longer part of the event, WWE has reportedly pivoted to another musical artist, Jelly Roll, to fill the celebrity spot. This change has reshaped the potential matchup entirely.
“So Jelly Roll appears to have taken his spot, and I guess they’ve decided that a good counterpart for Jelly Roll would be Logan Paul. So anyway, that’s what happened, and that’s why this match (Jelly & Orton vs Logan & McIntyre) is taking place.”
The abrupt change raises questions about Bad Bunny’s potential involvement, as his participation was seemingly tied to the match with Scott. While Damian Priest has noted that Bad Bunny is always welcome in WWE, his status for the two-night premium live event now remains uncertain.
