Reports from within WWE indicate that creative discussions continue regarding CM Punk’s WrestleMania 41 plans. While Punk is currently scheduled to compete in a Triple Threat Match against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, backstage personnel have explored different scenarios for the Undisputed WWE Championship match.
During a Backstage Pass Q&A, WrestleVotes addressed the possibility of an alternative championship match featuring Punk, Cody Rhodes, and John Cena.
I don’t know if it’s been discussed in an official capacity, but I do know there are people there that would rather that match than Reigns vs. Punk vs. Rollins. If that matters at all I don’t know, but I do know that there are some people who would prefer that.
John Cena’s path to the Undisputed Championship appears to be through the upcoming Elimination Chamber match, where current reports indicate he is set to earn his title opportunity. CM Punk is also scheduled to compete in the Chamber, leaving multiple possible outcomes for the premium live event.
A potential storyline development between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk emerged on the final episode of Monday Night Raw before the Royal Rumble, setting the stage for future interactions between the two competitors.
