According to a new report, both Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch are considered heavy favorites to retain their respective titles at Clash in Paris this Sunday. The report, from JoeyVotes and TC on WrestleVotes Radio, states that WWE has significant future plans for both champions, strongly indicating they will not be losing at the premium live event in France.
Rollins is scheduled to defend his World Heavyweight Championship in a challenging Fatal 4-Way match against CM Punk, Jey Uso, and LA Knight. The stipulation means Rollins could lose the title without being the one pinned or submitted.
The championship match is built on the animosity from SummerSlam, where Rollins executed what was described as “The Ruse of the Century.” After feigning an injury for weeks, he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on CM Punk just moments after Punk had won the title from Gunther.
Tensions escalated on the August 25 episode of Monday Night Raw when a brawl broke out between Uso, Punk, and Knight. Later that night, Rollins interfered in a match to help his faction-mate in The Vision, Bron Breakker, defeat LA Knight.
The prediction of a successful defense for Rollins is echoed by former WWE writer Vince Russo. Speaking on his Writing with Russo show, he argued that it would not make sense from a storytelling perspective for WWE to end Rollins’ reign so soon, stating that an immediate title change would cut short the significant “heat” generated by his controversial win and his faction, The Vision.
While much of the focus is on Rollins’ high-stakes title defense, the WrestleVotes report also identified his wife, Becky Lynch, as a strong favorite. Lynch is set to defend her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Nikki Bella at the Paris event.
