Since its inception, the WWE Independent Development program has sought to build a bridge between the independent circuit and the company, with its championships serving as the centerpiece. Kylie Rae, the inaugural WWE ID Women’s Champion, captured the title this past summer, establishing its lineage from day one. On Monday, WWE ID issued an official update on the belt’s status.
The WWE ID Women’s Championship is now vacant. The announcement followed Rae’s reveal over the weekend that she is pregnant with her second child.
WWE ID confirmed the news on social media, releasing a statement that both acknowledged Rae’s reign and congratulated her: “The WWE ID Women’s Championship is now vacant. WWE ID is proud that Kylie Rae will go in the record books as the first ever champion and sends congratulations on the addition to her family. Thank you, Kylie!”
Rae initially shared the news on Sunday after a fan asked why she had vacated another independent title. This will be her second child with partner and fellow wrestler Isais Velazquez; their first was born in October 2023.
Rae’s historic win came on August 1 at GCW Presents WWE ID Showcase, where she defeated Zayda Steel and Zara Zakher in a triple threat tournament final to become the first champion. She did not defend the title during her reign.
The WWE ID Championships follow a unique rule set, allowing defenses against any independent talent. Under program guidelines, if a non-contracted wrestler wins an ID title, they are immediately signed to a WWE Independent Development deal.
