WWE considered major legend to face Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania
Sheamus discloses original WrestleMania 26 plans that would have featured Drew McIntyre facing The Undertaker in a singles match.
Sheamus has revealed that WWE initially planned a match between Drew McIntyre and The Undertaker for WrestleMania 26. Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, the former WWE Champion discussed the original lineup for the event, which underwent significant changes.
During the interview, Sheamus detailed the initial booking plans:
You look back at the Survivor Series which we’re touching on [2009], it was Miz, me, and Drew. The talk at the time was — I was supposed to go with Hunter [Triple H], Drew was supposed to go with Taker, and Miz was supposed to go with Shawn [Michaels]. Then it all switched with Taker and Shawn for WrestleMania 26.
The revelation comes in light of McIntyre’s early WWE career, where former Chairman Vince McMahon saw potential in the Scottish wrestler shortly after his debut. While the WrestleMania match never materialized, McIntyre and The Undertaker would eventually share the ring at Extreme Rules 2019 in a tag team match featuring Shane McMahon and Roman Reigns.

I had a contact high.
