WWE may be looking to bring another iconic World Championship Wrestling (WCW) property back from the archives. The company has a well-established pattern of reviving classic event names like WarGames and The Great American Bash, and its latest legal move suggests another may be on the way.
On July 22, the company filed a new trademark for the name “SuperBrawl,” according to the United States Patent & Trademark Office. The filing covers a wide range of uses for the name, including live and broadcasted wrestling events.
“Exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information.”
The move has prompted significant discussion, as SuperBrawl was one of WCW’s premier pay-per-views, running from 1991 until the company’s final year in 2001. The event hosted several classic encounters, including Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage for the WCW World Title in 1996 and a memorable Strap Match between Sting and Vader in 1993.
Notably, WWE had already filed for the SuperBrawl trademark last year, and that application remained active as of July 2025. The decision to file a new trademark has intensified belief that an official revival could be imminent, though the company has made no official announcement. Fontes
