A major acquisition in the wrestling world took place as WWE expanded its global footprint by purchasing Mexican promotion AAA. The transaction represents WWE’s continued effort to consolidate international wrestling properties under its corporate umbrella.
WWE officially revealed the acquisition during the WrestleMania 41 Countdown broadcast on April 19, 2025. The announcement came via a special panel segment featuring key figures from both organizations. Paul Levesque represented WWE in his capacity as content director, while Dorian Roldan appeared as AAA’s spokesperson.
The panel discussion also included participation from established lucha libre performers along with WWE roster members known for their lucha libre wrestling style. This strategic presentation highlighted the cultural significance of the acquisition and WWE’s respect for AAA’s lucha libre heritage.
To commemorate the new partnership, WWE announced an upcoming special “NXT x AAA Worlds Collide” event. The cross-promotional show is scheduled for June 7 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California. This marks the first official collaboration between the two organizations following the acquisition.
The broadcast aired simultaneously on Peacock streaming service and YouTube, maximizing global viewership for this significant business development in professional wrestling.
