In recent days, Karrion Kross has confronted persistent rumors alleging an unwillingness to take flat back bumps, using both a promotional interview and his match at Night of Champions to address the speculation.
Speaking with The National ahead of the event on June 28, 2025, Kross dismissed the story as the “weakest” of the fabricated articles he has seen about himself. He noted that he typically ignores the “crazy” rumors that circulate, sharing another claim he found “funnier” which suggested he was planning to deliver a “shoot promo” on WWE RAW and quit the company.
The speculation about his in-ring work originated from wrestling journalist Wade Keller, who suggested on his podcast that Kross’s main roster career was being hindered because he was “scared to bump.” Keller claimed other wrestlers had pointed this out as a significant issue. This notion, however, was directly refuted in a Fightful Select report, which cited multiple WWE producers who have worked with Kross and stated his willingness to take bumps has never been a problem.
During his match against Sami Zayn at Night of Champions, Kross provided a physical rebuttal to the claims. After taking a clothesline on the ropes, he took a pronounced back bump to the floor outside the ring, a sequence that appeared designed to silence the criticism.
Although Zayn ultimately won the match, Kross’s performance directly countered the narrative that he has backstage issues. His placement in a premium live event match, his first since WrestleMania 40, also suggests he is not in disfavor with company officials.
