WWE has finalized the opening matches for both nights of WrestleMania 41, completing the framework for the two-night Premium Live Event scheduled for April 19 and 20. This announcement rounds out the card structure after WWE previously confirmed the main events for the showcase.
Michael Cole revealed on the Pat McAfee Show that the World Heavyweight Championship match between Gunther and Jey Uso will kick off night one, serving as the first bout of the entire WrestleMania weekend. The Women’s World Championship triple threat match featuring IYO SKY defending against Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley will open night two.
The placement aligns with Jey Uso’s previously stated preference, as he had mentioned wanting to open the show since he wasn’t featured in a main event slot. This position grants him a prominent spot on the card despite not being in the closing match.
These openers balance the already announced main events, with CM Punk versus Roman Reigns versus Seth Rollins closing night one, while Cody Rhodes defends his Undisputed WWE Championship against John Cena in the night two finale.
With both the opening and closing contests now set for each night, the structural foundation of WrestleMania 41 is firmly established, giving fans clarity on how WWE’s biggest showcase of the year will flow across both evenings.
