WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long has offered his perspective on Kevin Nash’s recent assessment of Becky Lynch’s career. While Nash claimed Lynch is “grasping for straws,” Long believes her current on-screen involvement with husband Seth Rollins is a positive development. Long suggested this new direction could be a significant and beneficial shift for the former champion.
Speaking on The Wrestling Time Machine, Long acknowledged Nash’s viewpoint but focused on the potential of the new angle.
“Well everybody has their own opinion and maybe he sees it that way you know? I don’t know. But what you guys just got through talking about her involving herself now with her husband and everything, I think that’s kind of brand new. So, maybe that’s gonna be different for her and I think that’s gonna be good. Because I think she is a lot better when she is with Seth, you know. Sometimes you know, they say it’s bad for the business, working with your wife and all that, sometimes it’s not,” Teddy said.
Long’s comments refer to Lynch’s recent integration into the feud between Seth Rollins and CM Punk. This involvement escalated during the September 1 edition of WWE Raw in Paris.
Lynch confronted Punk in the ring on behalf of Rollins. She delivered multiple slaps and a verbal rebuke, calling Punk the “poster child for apathy.” The segment was a direct response to Punk’s ongoing insults toward Rollins, whom he had called a coward for hiding behind his wife.
The physical confrontation has intensified speculation regarding a potential return for CM Punk’s wife, AJ Lee. Reports suggest a mixed tag team match pitting Punk and Lee against Rollins and Lynch is planned for Wrestlepalooza on September 20. Punk’s cryptic social media posts, combined with a quickly deleted WWE Shop post about new AJ Lee merchandise, have further fueled these rumors.
