WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long explains why fan-favorite tag team is not having a title run (Exclusive)

While WWE creative does make some very good decisions with its booking of the roster, it is inevitable that some names do not get the star-studded treatment. Teddy Long recently talked about one such duo, providing a possible explanation for their current state.

The tag team being referenced is the Street Profits, who, despite their significant fan following, lost their chance of winning the tag team titles to Motor City Machine Guns. Their talent is undeniable, as they are Triple Crown Champions, having held the tag team belts on RAW, SmackDown, and NXT once each.

On Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, Teddy Long gave his opinion on why the Profits have not held gold in a while.

“They put the belts on you because they believe you are gonna draw money. That’s basically why you get the belts, you are gonna draw money now, you start selling tickets. Not saying that those two guys wouldn’t have done that. I haven’t really watched their whole career, but I watched some of it the way that they were when they’re a tag team. So maybe that could be the problem.” [2:33 onwards]

Bill Apter also commented on the WWE team’s plight

According to Bill Apter, the Street Profits have been treated poorly by WWE’s creative department.

Speaking about the issue on Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, the veteran journalist stated:

“I think the Street Profits are honestly feeling slapped in the face by WWE, where they weren’t given the tag team belts. Instead a new team comes in that WWE is selling as ‘Oh my god they are the innovators of this, and that, they’re great, everybody in the world knows them, they’ve been to Japan…’ Why not put those belts on the house guys that have really earned it and deserve it? And then maybe have the Machine Guns come in and feud with them.” [1:08 onwards]

Street Profits are slated to go up against the Motor City Machine Guns soon on SmackDown, and it remains to be seen how the bout goes.
