WWE has officially launched a new YouTube channel dedicated to World Championship Wrestling content. The company announced the new channel on March 6th, providing fans with free access to classic WCW footage.
The channel already features several iconic moments from WCW history. WWE has uploaded Hulk Hogan’s legendary heel turn from Bash at the Beach 1996, the first-ever Clash of the Champions special, and the final WCW pay-per-view Greed 2001.
This development addresses concerns from wrestling fans about the future availability of classic content. With WWE Network shutting down by the end of 2024 due to the company’s new deal with Netflix, many worried that historic footage would become inaccessible.
The new YouTube channel ensures fans can continue watching significant WCW moments without additional subscription costs.
World Championship Wrestling, established by Ted Turner in 1988, emerged as WWE’s primary competitor during the 1990s. The promotion launched its flagship program Nitro on September 4, 1995, which aired directly against Monday Night Raw.
WCW’s Nitro famously defeated WWE in television ratings for 83 consecutive weeks during the height of the Monday Night Wars. The show continued until March 2001, when Vince McMahon acquired the company.
This new WCW channel follows WWE’s January 2025 launch of a similar YouTube channel dedicated to classic NXT content. That channel periodically releases full matches, episodes, and TakeOver events from NXT’s history.
