Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ahmed Johnson is safe after being struck by a drunk driver, issuing a statement to fans on September 29 confirming his condition.

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ahmed Johnson was involved in a car accident on September 29 after his vehicle was hit by a drunk driver. Johnson, whose real name is Tony Norris, is recovering well.

The update came through Book Pro Wrestlers on Facebook, which posted a statement from Johnson. “When you have the Lord on your side, nothing can harm you,” he said. The post also mentioned that the back of his car was heavily damaged in the crash.

Johnson wrestled in WWE from late 1995 to early 1998 and made history in 1996 by becoming the first African-American Intercontinental Champion. That same year, he headlined In Your House 9: International Incident in a six-man tag team match.

After leaving WWE in 1998, Johnson went on to compete in World Championship Wrestling under the name Big T.
