WWE Legend recalls intense backstage moment after ECW-style match
Former wrestler Dutch Mantell details a pivotal moment from his career that highlighted the contrasting styles between traditional and extreme wrestling.
Veteran performer Dutch Mantell shares details about a memorable encounter with Tommy Dreamer that challenged his wrestling style preferences.
Dutch Mantell has revealed an intense moment from his career involving Tommy Dreamer during a recent appearance on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Smack Talk. The incident occurred during their match in Memphis, where styles clashed in unexpected ways.
Mantell offered insight into his experience with ECW’s distinctive style:
He grabbed a chair and was going to hit me, and I wasn’t used to the ECW style. He hit me so hard I thought I owed him money. So we worked a little bit, I poked his eye and said ‘stay there.’ I hit him, not with full force, but pretty hard. You know what he said? Nothing. He just continued, and I thought ‘damn! Good thing I didn’t go to ECW because I wouldn’t have survived.
Despite the intensity of their encounter, Mantell acknowledges their effective in-ring chemistry, highlighting Dreamer’s characteristic resilience as an ECW Original.
Tommy Dreamer evaluates CM Punk and Seth Rollins’ RAW segment
Speaking on Busted Open After Dark, Tommy Dreamer offered his analysis of the verbal exchange between CM Punk and Seth Rollins:
CM Punk is famous for the pipe bomb, but Seth Rollins should be famous for the truth bomb. Because if I’m listening to these promos, I’m believing Seth Rollins. As an analyst, I’m just observing what I saw on television today. I’m not considering the real stories or backstage stuff. Much of CM Punk’s material is so old that I believe it’s detrimental to his position as a hero.
The two competitors are scheduled to face each other in a singles match at RAW’s Netflix debut on January 6, 2025.
