WWE Made GUNTHER's WrestleMania 41 Match Insignificant, Ex-Writer Warns
Former WWE writer Vince Russo criticizes WWE for “burying” World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER, claiming it has destroyed interest in his WrestleMania match with Jey Uso.

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo has torn into WWE’s booking of World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER heading into the Showcase of the Immortals.
The outspoken wrestling personality didn’t hold back on a recent episode of “The Brand” podcast regarding the Austrian’s road to WrestleMania.
GUNTHER is set to defend his title against 2025 Royal Rumble winner Jey Uso at the April Premium Live Event.
Russo blasted WWE’s treatment of the Ring General in recent weeks, suggesting it has killed fan interest in the championship clash.
Going into WrestleMania, they’ve been absolutely burying Gunther. So quite frankly that match means absolutely nothing. Gunther is not a killer heel. He’s not been slaying people going into WrestleMania. And bro, they haven’t even been booking Gunther 50-50. They’ve been booking Gunther 25-75. And Gunther’s getting the 25 and this is your champion.
The champion currently holds a 1-1 record at WrestleMania, having defeated Drew McIntyre and Sheamus in 2023 before dropping his title to Sami Zayn last year.
With the biggest show of the year rapidly approaching, one has to wonder if WWE has time to course-correct and properly build GUNTHER as a dominant force worthy of headlining the grand stage.
