WWE Makes Surprising Decision on Veteran, Multi-Time Champion – “Forbidden!”
WWE prevented Christian Cage from registering his former nickname as a trademark. According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cage attempted to secure the rights to “Captain Charisma,” but WWE opposed the registration.
No information has emerged regarding a potential appeal to this decision. Christian Cage has reinvented himself in AEW since joining the promotion in 2021, following years away from the ring. Tony Khan introduced him as a Legend-worthy signing.
In AEW, Cage maintained a prominent position, competing for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship and capturing multiple TNT Championship reigns. He currently holds a championship opportunity that he can use at any time, which he unsuccessfully attempted to cash in against Jon Moxley at AEW Full Gear.
After signing with AEW, Cage successfully regained the rights to use the name “Christian Cage.”
