WWE May Be Planning Major Developments for Tonight’s SmackDown

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis heads into tonight's Elimination Chamber go-home show with potential decisions regarding Roman Reigns' return, Dominik Mysterio, The Rock, and Jade Cargill.

WWE May Be Planning Major Developments for Tonight’s SmackDown

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown serves as the final stop before Elimination Chamber 2025, with General Manager Nick Aldis positioned to make several significant announcements that could reshape current storylines.

Aldis may address The Rock’s recent confrontation with Cody Rhodes on behalf of Triple H. Last week, The Final Boss returned to SmackDown with a surprising offer for Rhodes, suggesting the champion “sell his soul” despite claiming he doesn’t seek the title itself. This cryptic proposition left both fans and Rhodes puzzled, prompting The Rock to grant time for consideration.

The SmackDown GM could remind viewers that Triple H maintains ultimate authority in WWE, countering The Rock’s implied power play. This wouldn’t be the first time such a confrontation occurred, as Triple H and The Rock faced off during last year’s WrestleMania 40 kickoff and again during the February 2024 episode of SmackDown when The Game overruled Rock’s decision.

WWE officially announced Roman Reigns will return on March 21 and 28, setting up another potential announcement from Aldis. The Original Tribal Chief has been absent since his Royal Rumble 2025 loss, but recently confirmed he has “receipts” for both CM Punk and Seth Rollins.

Aldis might reveal that Reigns has sent specific warnings to both Punk and Rollins, potentially setting up a face-to-face confrontation for the March 21 edition of SmackDown.

The Women’s Tag Team Championship situation provides another opportunity for Aldis to take action. Monday’s Raw saw Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez capture the titles from Naomi and Bianca Belair, with Dominik Mysterio playing a decisive role in the outcome through his interference.

Belair and Naomi could approach Aldis about this unjust loss, leading him to ban Mysterio from ringside during the upcoming Women’s Elimination Chamber match to prevent similar interference in Toronto.

Finally, Aldis might announce Jade Cargill’s return as Chelsea Green’s mystery opponent for the Women’s US Championship. Cargill has been sidelined since November 22, 2024, following a backstage attack by an unknown assailant. WWE recently showed footage of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez leaving just as Cargill was taken away in an ambulance, suggesting their potential involvement.

Recent reports indicate Cargill has been training at the WWE Performance Center, suggesting an imminent return. Her comeback as Green’s opponent would create a compelling championship opportunity while potentially advancing the mystery attacker storyline as WrestleMania approaches.
