Following AJ Lee’s return to a WWE ring after more than a decade, a social media post from Chief Content Officer Triple H has ignited fan speculation about another major comeback. His welcome message for Lee included a caption that many fans have interpreted as a subtle hint toward current AEW talent Mercedes Moné.
Lee made her appearance on the September 5 episode of SmackDown, confronting Becky Lynch. This action came after Lynch and Seth Rollins have been targeting Lee’s husband, CM Punk, for months, directly setting up a potential mixed tag team match.
The confrontation was the first time Lee and Lynch have ever stood opposite each other in a ring. Lee retired from wrestling before Lynch was called up to the main roster in 2015.
Mercedes Moné, known in WWE as Sasha Banks, left the company in 2022 and has been wrestling for AEW since joining the promotion in 2024.

The speculation surrounding a potential WWE return for Moné coincides with her continued interest in the global wrestling scene. She recently reacted on social media to the announcement of a winner-take-all match in Japan between World of STARDOM Champion Saya Kamitani and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion AZM, scheduled for September 27 at Korakuen Hall.
Moné is a former NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, having lost the title to AZM in a triple-threat match earlier this year that also involved Mina Shirakawa. A return to Japan could present an opportunity for her to challenge for the World of STARDOM Championship, a title she has not previously held.
