WWE multi-time champion demands to be fired after RAW on Netflix – “They’ll have to fire me”

John Cena confirmed his plans to retire from in-ring competition at the end of 2025 during WWE RAW’s Netflix premiere. The 16-time world champion declared his entry into the Royal Rumble match while addressing his upcoming farewell tour.

During the post-show media session, Cena affirmed his commitment to WWE beyond his wrestling career:

I think the biggest question is, is this actually real? Yes, 100%. After December, my last match, I’m done. You will see me in an ambassador role in the WWE, but I will not wear [my gear]. I will be in suit. You’ll see the other facets of John Cena because we have so many great, current, and young superstars on the way up.

The veteran emphasized his enduring connection to the company:

I love the WWE. I know I’m going to retire, but they will have to fire me to get me to stop being a part of this place.

Los Angeles crowd welcomes Cena’s final chapter

The Intuit Dome erupted as Cena made his entrance, potentially marking his last appearance in Los Angeles. His announcement of entering the Royal Rumble carries significant implications, as a victory would provide an opportunity to surpass Ric Flair’s record by capturing a 17th world championship.

Among active WWE performers, Cena’s 16 world championships place him ahead of Randy Orton’s 14 titles, while Roman Reigns and CM Punk each hold six world championship reigns.
