According to a report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is planning to split up The Street Profits. The report comes as on-screen tension has been teased between Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, particularly following their loss to The Wyatt Sicks at Clash in Paris.
“Now they’re [Street Profits] gonna split up,” Meltzer stated. He expressed concern for Angelo Dawkins’s prospects as a singles competitor but noted that Montez Ford has the potential to succeed on his own. “I have known people who thought he was a future World Champion four years ago. And nobody’s been saying that lately because they’ve just—I wouldn’t even say they’ve run in place. They’ve run backwards.”
Meltzer placed the blame for the team’s perceived decline on WWE’s creative direction, saying, “It’s the fault of creative for taking what they had that was charismatic and just removing the charisma from them, really.”
The potential split marks a significant turn for a team that started 2025 with a revitalized purpose. The Street Profits turned heel at the Royal Rumble in February, attacking both #DIY and the Motor City Machine Guns to establish a new, aggressive attitude. The change in character quickly paid off, as they defeated #DIY on the March 14 episode of SmackDown to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship, ending a four-year period without a major title reign.
Their run as champions included a highly praised TLC match on the SmackDown after WrestleMania 41, where they successfully defended the titles against both #DIY and the Motor City Machine Guns. They eventually lost the championships to The Wyatt Sicks on the July 11 episode of SmackDown, ending their reign at 119 days.
Despite the current storyline teases, Montez Ford stated in an interview in late August that he and Dawkins were committed to keeping their partnership intact. The duo has been one of WWE’s most decorated modern tag teams, with four separate championship reigns across different brands since forming in 2019.
