WWE Plans For Vacant Women’s World Title Revealed

A new report from BodySlam has revealed WWE’s apparent plans for the vacant Women’s World Championship. According to the report, Stephanie Vaquer is set to face IYO SKY to determine the new champion. This is expected to be the official announcement made by Raw General Manager Adam Pearce on tonight’s episode of the show.

Pearce is scheduled to address the future of the title on tonight’s broadcast, two weeks after it was relinquished. On the August 25 episode of Raw, Pearce had informed Vaquer that her scheduled championship match at Clash in Paris was canceled due to the title being vacated. At that time, he assured her she would remain the top contender and that he had a new opponent and match date in mind, which he promised to reveal on September 1.

The Women’s World Championship was vacated on the August 18 episode of Raw, when then-champion Naomi announced she was pregnant. During an in-ring segment alongside her husband, Jimmy Uso, Naomi relinquished the title and vowed to return to reclaim it after her maternity leave. Her reign ended at 35 days, having won the championship at SummerSlam in a triple threat match against Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley.

Stephanie Vaquer earned her status as the number one contender by winning a battle royal at the Evolution 2 premium live event. Though her initial title opportunity in Paris was postponed, she is now reportedly set to face IYO SKY for the vacant belt. With the matchup seemingly decided, the rivalry between Vaquer and SKY is expected to become a central storyline as WWE builds towards its next premium live event, Wrestlepalooza.
