WWE officials are reportedly positioning Kendal Grey for a significant push. Management is said to be “very high on” her future within NXT, according to a new report. Sources state Grey is expected to be featured prominently in the next group of talent showcased in the NXT women’s division. (h/t BodySlam)
This internal confidence appears to be building on Grey’s strong amateur wrestling foundation. Known as Peyton Prussin before signing with WWE, she was a three-time NAIA champion for Life University. Her credentials also include being a finalist for USA Wrestling’s Women’s Wrestler of the Year award in 2023.
Her recent television appearances reflect this planned elevation. Grey has been active in a tag team with Wren Sinclair, most recently in a match against The Culling’s Izzi Dame and Tatum Paxley on the August 26 episode of WWE NXT.
Further evidence of the company testing her capabilities came in a recent six-woman gauntlet match. The bout was to determine the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. Grey secured an elimination over Brinley Reece before being eliminated by Jaida Parker.
Even in defeat, Grey’s performances are reportedly impressing key personnel. Her grappling-heavy style, which utilizes armbars and suplexes, is considered a standout trait on the NXT roster. The current plan is to leverage these skills as she moves into a more featured role.
