WWE Reportedly Pursued MJF Before He Re-Signed with AEW for Record Deal
Former AEW World Champion MJF reveals he secured an extremely lucrative deal with AEW that exceeds $15 million in total value despite WWE interest.

MJF has confirmed securing a highly lucrative contract with AEW, stating the total value surpasses $15 million. The former World Champion addressed his contract status during a recent interview on the SI Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina.
What I will tell you is the amount of money that I get by the time it is over far surpasses 15 million. I am making top guy money, whether it be an All Elite wrestling contract or a WWE contract.
After months of teasing the “bidding war of 2024” and suggesting a potential jump to WWE, MJF remained with AEW. He went on a lengthy hiatus following Worlds End 2023, not returning until Double or Nothing in May of the following year.
During this period, reports emerged that MJF had signed a new AEW contract, though details about the length of the deal were not disclosed. The wrestler himself has now confirmed there was indeed interest from WWE.
I will say this: I am 28 years old. Every single top act in professional wrestling besides me is either in their late 30s, late 40s, or early 50s. So yeah, for the people who are panicked, ‘Oh my gosh. Am I ever gonna get to see MJF outside of All Elite Wrestling? Am I ever gonna get to see MJF in this place, that place?’
MJF emphasized that he was the true winner in the negotiations between the two promotions, securing what he describes as an “absurd amount of money” while maintaining future options.
Look, the reason I was paid top dollar is because I’m a generational talent. I won the bidding war. WWE didn’t win the bidding war. All Elite Wrestling didn’t win the bidding war. I won the bidding war because I am making an absurd amount of money. By the time the contract is up, I will still be absurdly young, and then I will be able once again, to make an absurd amount of money in the next bidding war. And you know who’s going to win again, me.
MJF is scheduled to face Hangman Adam Page at AEW Revolution on March 9. The event will feature Jon Moxley defending the AEW World Championship against challenger Cope in the main event.
