WWE Risks Major WrestleMania 41 Mistake, Warns Former Executive

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has expressed concern about a potential championship change at WrestleMania 41, suggesting it could be a strategic mistake from a business perspective. The former WWE executive shared his thoughts on the upcoming World Heavyweight Championship match during a recent episode of his podcast.

Speaking on “83 Weeks,” Bischoff articulated why Gunther should retain his title when he faces Jey Uso on April 19-20.

Especially if he’s getting hotter, and they’re writing and producing him to be stronger, and he’s living up to the hype and exceeding it, then maybe originally the plan was to take the title away from him, but I think the money comes when you have a heel on the rise.

The contrasting character trajectories factor heavily into Bischoff’s analysis. While Gunther continues to build momentum as a dominant champion, Uso has been portrayed with diminishing confidence since selecting Gunther as his opponent following his Royal Rumble victory on February 1st.

Gunther has held the World Heavyweight Championship since defeating Damian Priest at SummerSlam 2024. His impressive title run includes successful defenses against Priest, Finn Balor, Jey Uso, Randy Orton, and Sami Zayn, further establishing his credibility as champion.
