The 2025 Royal Rumble has become the most-watched premium live event in WWE history. Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer reports the event surpassed previous viewership records across all platforms.
During the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer detailed the event’s historic performance.
This was the most-watched Royal Rumble around the world in history and actually the most-watched WWE pay-per-view event ever in history. The Rumble because there were a lot more viewers on Netflix than there were via whether it was pay-per-view in the old days or television after the pay-per-view or local streaming services that bought the network or the network or whatever, so more people watched this royal rumble than watched any night of WrestleMania ever, let alone every Royal Rumble ever. So that record will be broken at WrestleMania, but it was, in fact, the all-time record.
The premium live event saw Charlotte Flair win the Women’s Royal Rumble match to secure her championship opportunity at WrestleMania 41. In the men’s division, Jey Uso emerged victorious.
Jey Uso Learns About Royal Rumble Victory Hours Before Event
Jey Uso discovered his Royal Rumble victory on the day of the event. Speaking with Daniel Cormier, Uso revealed the timing of when he learned about the match outcome.
I was humbled, man. I knew, as soon as they told me it was me, they told me like half-way during the day Saturday, man. ‘Hey, we need the last four to come in here.’ I’m [in the] last four, I see who’s with me. I’m like [looks around]. Yeah, they let me know, man. Then, I automatically went straight to my brothers, ‘Hey,’ you know, then told them what it was, and I knew… I liked it, uce, because I knew not one person in that arena [would] think it’s gonna be me. That’s the swerve I like.
Uso remained in the match for the third-longest duration, following Penta and Roman Reigns, before eliminating John Cena to claim victory.
