WWE Sources Deny Matt Riddle’s Royal Rumble Victory Claim
Former WWE star Matt Riddle’s statement about being planned to win a Royal Rumble has been refuted by a WWE creative team source.

Matt Riddle’s recent claim about once being scheduled to win a Royal Rumble match has been contradicted by WWE sources.
During an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Riddle stated he was originally planned to win the Royal Rumble during his RK-Bro partnership with Randy Orton.
You know, it’s WWE, anything can happen at any time. There was, believe it or not, when Randy [Orton] and I were together, and they pitched it—that I would win the Rumble, have some back-and-forth, maybe get rid of Brock [Lesnar]. And then Brock came in and called the match and that wasn’t going to happen.
Riddle doubled down on this claim during a virtual signing, suggesting WWE producers didn’t challenge Lesnar’s alleged decision.
I was told at one point, yeah, I was gonna win the Royal Rumble and everything else… Then Brock came in, didn’t wanna do business with everybody, said he was winning, and then he won, and then none of the producers… nobody stood up to him, and they let him do it. I didn’t either.
A WWE creative team member has directly refuted these claims to Ringside News.
Riddle was never planned to win the Rumble.
