The tense relationship between Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair reached a pivotal moment on the June 27 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, where Bliss proposed an “alliance of convenience” to the 14-time world champion. This direct offer followed weeks of ambiguous interactions between the two decorated superstars.
The proposal was a direct result of events from the previous week’s show. On the June 21 edition of SmackDown, Flair was subjected to a three-on-one assault by Chelsea Green, Piper Niven, and Alba Fyre following her victory over Green. Bliss made an unexpected appearance, saving Flair from the attack and delivering a Sister Abigail DDT to Green. Despite the assist, Flair left the ring without acknowledging Bliss.
During the backstage segment on Friday, Bliss confronted Flair about the lack of gratitude. Flair reiterated her long-held position, stating, “Lexi, I don’t need friends.” This prompted Bliss to reframe their potential partnership, moving it away from friendship and toward a purely strategic goal.
“I’m not trying to be your friend, Charlotte, but it wouldn’t hurt for us to be on the same page. Think of it as allies of convenience. Think about it,” Bliss stated.
The proposition leaves Flair to consider the offer, creating a new and compelling direction for both competitors. Their recent history has seen them on opposing sides, including in a Fatal 4-Way match to qualify for the Queen of the Ring tournament on June 13. An alliance between the two former rivals would represent a formidable force and could significantly alter the landscape of the WWE women’s division.
