A physical altercation between a WWE superstar and two commentators occurred during the post-WrestleMania edition of RAW at T-Mobile Arena. The incident has led to potential disciplinary action from WWE management.
Gunther approached the commentary desk and confronted Michael Cole during the broadcast. When Cole attempted to explain he was simply performing his professional duties and held no personal animosity toward Gunther, the situation escalated rapidly. Gunther physically shoved Cole before applying a Sleeper Choke on the veteran announcer.
The assault prompted Pat McAfee to intervene on his broadcast colleague’s behalf. McAfee attacked Gunther when the opportunity presented itself, but his defensive efforts proved unsuccessful. Gunther quickly overpowered McAfee and applied the same Sleeper Chokehold technique he had used on Cole.
WWE official Adam Pearce immediately responded to the situation, bringing security personnel to the ringside area. Their combined efforts were required to separate Gunther from the commentary team. Following the altercation, McAfee was escorted from the arena in visible distress.
Pearce has since addressed the incident with Cole, assuring the commentator that appropriate measures will be taken regarding Gunther’s actions. While no official announcement has been made, possible consequences could include a suspension period and financial penalties for Gunther.
This incident joins several other notable moments from the post-WrestleMania broadcast, including Randy Orton’s RKO on John Cena and Becky Lynch’s heel turn following her tag team championship loss.
