Drew McIntyre faces an uncertain WrestleMania 41 appearance following an eye injury sustained during the March 28 episode of SmackDown. The Scottish wrestler is now working with medical staff to determine if he can compete at WWE’s biggest event in Las Vegas.

The injury occurred after McIntyre defeated Randy Orton in a match that ended with Damian Priest attacking McIntyre and sending him through a car windshield. Speaking on the “It’s Called Soccer” podcast, McIntyre explained the severity of his situation:

Part of the glass, when I fell on the windshield, jumped up and hit directly in my eyeball. I’m wearing this eye patch, hoping to resolve this and make it to WrestleMania. It’s a race against time now.

McIntyre clarified that the eye injury was not planned as part of the segment.

The fall wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Some debris went up in the air and hit directly in my eye, so I’m dealing with that now. The eye problem wasn’t supposed to happen. I shouldn’t be sitting here with an eye patch, but I am.

Medical evaluations are ongoing to assess McIntyre’s condition before WrestleMania 41. Despite the building tension between McIntyre and Priest following the recent attack, WWE has not yet announced an official match between the two competitors for the premium live event.
